Barbara Warren July 9, 1926 - February 23, 2021

Barbara Cavelle (Clench, Ploughman) Warren

At 1pm on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021 Heaven gained another precious Angel. After a short period of declining health, Barbara Warren passed away at the Dr. GB Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, Newfoundland.

A strong woman until the end, Barbara left a host of people behind who loved her dearly. Her 4 (Ploughman) children Gene, Glenn, Roselynne and Jerry, together with their spouses/partners and their children (grandchildren to Barbara) were able to enjoy her for each of our individual periods of the 94 years that she spent gracing the earth and we will all hold precious memories of her until we meet again.

Barbara was born in Brooklyn, NY and spent her first 8 months as an American until her mother, Ella (Clench) Russell brought her home to Newfoundland where she grew into a wonderful industrious, hard-working and very talented woman, wife and mother. She married her first husband, Eric Ploughman at age 19 and raised their 4 children in Shoal Harbour.

Barbara spent 25 wonderful travel-filled years with her second husband, Norm Warren and, upon his passing she moved in with her daughter Roselynne where she spent the remainder of her earthly years cooking, sewing, reading, knitting and chatting with friends. Barbara will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of her life and spirit will take place at a later date when her ashes will be laid to rest next to her mother at the foot of her grandmother, Amy (Lowe) Clench, in the old Shoal Harbour United Church cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Dr. GB Cross Memorial Hospital and a special thank you goes to Dr. Blaine Pearce who cared for her for the last several years of her life. A special thank you also goes out to Rev. Keith Denman for visiting and praying with the family on Barbara’s final Sunday at home.

The family requests that any donations to honour the life of Barbara Warren should be made to the GB Cross Memorial Hospital Foundation.

To cousins, Gene, Glenn, Roselynne and Jerry, please accept our sincere condolences from Phyllis and I on aunt Barbara’s passing. I have a few memories of visiting your house in Shoal Harbour and of your parents visiting our place prior to leaving when I was 14. It was just a month or so ago in a phone conversation with cousin Tim that I mentioned aunt Barbara and that I wanted to look up your family and aunt Barbara and get to know her and the family better. I hope to be able to meet some of you this summer. Your mom gave you the most precious and valuable gift; life. Without life we never would have existed or accomplished anything. We are forever indebted to our parents and we owe them a great debt of gratitude. It is a tremendous and sad loss when they pass away. There are many beautiful and positive comments about aunt Barbara recorded here. She made a good name and left a lasting impression on those she met. If only I could follow through on my conversation with Tim recently…… Your good memories will be a source of comfort to you all. Again, please accept our very sincere condolences on your loss.
