This surely is sad news. Just telling friends over the weekend of the Clarenville wistler. I new Gerald as a boy in Clarenville. As a townie. I spent a lot of time in Clarenville and he was a good friend. The last time I spoke to Gerald was through the fog over 20 years ago on a walk up lower road. The only way I knew it was him was his wistle. Great person. God Bless.

Gerd was a wonderful soul. In the summers, when I came home for a holiday, I’d always run into him out in boat, fishing for cod off Random Island. He always had a funny story about that beluga whale that used to frequent those waters. Growing up years ago in Clarenville I remember going to the old Caribou Lounge where Gerd would often impress everyone with his waltzing skills ! He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
