Willis Leo Boyd August 29, 1941 - February 14, 2022

Passed peacefully away on Monday, February 14, 2022, in Lions Manor Placentia with his family present, Willis Leo Boyd of Harcourt age 80 years.   Predeceased by his parents Lewis and Pearl Boyd, sister Florrie and brothers Doug, Llewellyn and Larry.   Leaving to mourn is his wife Elaine of 53 years; children Darrell (Julie) of French River, Ontario,  Wanda (Greg Pike), Karen (Jolliffe Feltham), Cindy-Jo (Brian Ellis) and Trevor (Sandra); grandchildren: Angela, Taylor, Lee, Amy, Aaron, and Josie; great grandchild Hudson; sisters Beulah (Lloyd Tavenor), Cassie Brogdon, Eva Pelley and brothers Calvin (June) and Gerald (Nancy); brothers-in-law Johnny Stevenson, Hubert Hibbs (Marie), Malcolm Hibbs (Judy) and Clarence Hibbs (Geraldine); sisters-in-law Dorothy Davis, Virginia Boyd,  Mary Boyd and Kathy Hibbs; he also leaves behind a large number of extended family and friends.

Willis was born in Summerford and moved to Cambridge,  Ontario where he met his wife Elaine. Here they started a family.  He worked as a Precision Machinist by trade and decided to make the move back home to Harcourt where opened his own garage.  He enjoyed working as a mechanic for many years.  He loved the antique cars and it is no harm in saying that everyone knew Willis Boyd.  Willis battled dementia over the last few years but through it all his humor still showed.  This was shared with us from the staff at Lions Manor.  We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Lions Manor for their care and compassion during his stay which gave us comfort in knowing he was cared for when we weren’t present.

Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will take place at Fewer’s Funeral Home on Friday February 25, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.   In keeping with covid restrictions vaxx pass and masks will be required for both visitation and service.   Service will be held on Saturday February 26 at 2 pm at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel, Clarenville by invitation only with interment to follow at Harcourt United Church Cemetery.

Elaine and the family; I was so sorry to learn of Willis’ passing. Please accept my deepest sympathy.. Willis and I were good friends all through our growing up years in Harcourt and I spent many a happy visit with the family over on the “Big Hill” Every moment a joyous one! If it wasn’t a speed boat being built it was an outboard being worked on. Cherish all the wonderful memories that you shared together and I am certain they will lessen the burden of sorrow that you are experiencing.. I will cherish my memories of Willis also, especially the last visit we had together at your house in 2017. RIP Willis.
