It is with profound sadness that the family of Warrick Seaward of Sunnyside, NL announces his passing at the age of 61. Warrick passed peacefully at St. Claire’s hospital in St. John’s, NL on December 11, 2025, surrounded by his family. Warrick is predeceased by his parents Jim and Eliza Seaward.
Left with loving, cherished memories is his wife of 32 years, Shelly. His daughter, Rebecca (Johnathan) and his sons, Jarvis (Megan), James and Jariod. His granddaughter, Rachel and his grandsons, Owen, Landon and Sutton. He is also lovingly remembered by his brother Dave, and sisters Gloria, Lucy (Max), Sharon (Randy), Evelyn (Howard) and Goldie; as well as many nieces and nephews, fishing buddies and many close friends.
Warrick was a lifelong fisherman, from the early age of 13, who found peace on the water and cherished time spent with his fishing buddies. He met his wife Shelly in 1993 and married 6 months later where he gained a son and later had his three more children. He spent his life in Sunnyside and didn’t go far from the cove unless to visit his daughter and son James in New Brunswick. He was always a friendly face in the community and left a lasting impression on all who had the honour of meeting him.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the ICU staff of the Health Science Center and St. Claire’s hospital for their compassionate care.
There will be a private viewing and celebration of life for family and close family friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador in Warrick’s memory.
If someone should ask for me,
Tell ‘em heaven is where i’ll be.
I’ve finished all my life’s chores,
And now I fish on heaven’s shores.
The view is grand and the fishing’s great,
But I yearn for you as I wait.
I’ll save a spot on the river’s bend,
For all those I call family and friend.
But for now, sail out to sea
And make a cast in memory,
To all the good times that you had,
With me- your friend, your grandpa…your dad.
And if the fish no longer bite
Or seem no longer worth the fight,
Because it’s me that you are missin’,
Don’t worry – be glad – i’ve only gone fishin’.

December 13, 2025 at 12:43 pmWarrick marked the end of an era. He was the last full time fisherman in Sunnyside’s long history of fisherfolk.. Warrick was kind, friendly who never seemed to be too busy to have a little chat. He will be missed in SUNNYSIDE.
We extend our kindest thoughts to his family, and offer our support whenever you might need it.
