Shawn was a volunteer firefighter, and for most of his 35 + years of service he was fire chief, and member of the Harbour Authority in his hometown of North Harbour,  Placentia Bay.  A man standing 6’4″ tall was the biggest teddy bear anyone could ever ask for… he never saw anyone stuck, he always had kind and encouraging words for all, no matter who you were.

    Joanne, Shawna and family,
I have known Shawn for 25 years. I worked with him at the refinery. He was a great man to work with and learn from. We had a lot of fun together over the years. To say I am shocked and saddened is an understatement. I cannot imagine how you feel. Take solace in knowing that you meant the world to him. His whole purpose in life was his family. We are thinking of you in this sad time.

My deepest condolences to all of a Shawn’s family and friends. I had the pleasure of knowing Shawn through my daily deliveries to his workplace for the last 7 or 8 years. Shawn always made a point of coming out and saying hello and we’d always have a quick yarn, and was one of those deliveries I looked forward to. To say he was a gentle giant would be an understatement. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with all that knew him, as I’m sure he had a big impact and touched a lot of hearts. RIP Shawn. We’ll chat again some day buddy. 🙏🙏
