Russell Fudge March 30, 1958 - February 11, 2025

Passed away at the St. Clare’s Hospital in St. John’s, NL on February 11, 2025 Russell Fudge of Lethbridge aged 66 years.  Predeceased by his mother Vera-Louise Fudge. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Judy Fudge of 36 years.  Sister-in-law Ruby (Wayne) Penney of Lethbridge; nephew, Deon (Wendy) Penney of Lethbridge; great-niece, Lexie Penney of Lethbridge; brother, Kevin Fudge of Nova Scotia; and a small circle of family and friends. As per Russell’s wishes cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would also like to thank the staff of St. Clare’s Hospital for their professionalism and care during his final days.

In Russell’s younger years, he attended Queen Elizabeth High in Halifax where he enjoyed playing football. He would spend many weekends in Aylesford working the fields at the Myra farm and just hanging out with 70’s 8-track music with friends and his first car, the White HUGO.

Russell and his best friend Guy left Nova Scotia on the July 1st long weekend in 1980 with a case of oil, a full tank of gas and a borrowed tire. Destination was New York State to surprise friends Ross and Cathy who biked there from Nova Scotia for the Blues Brothers concert. They arrived on July 4 and surprised everyone. There was time to score two more tickets and a memory of a lifetime.

Russell was known as Twudgie Bear by his closest friends.

He had many lifelong Nova Scotia friends, He’d say, that he kept very close to heart, brother Kevin, Ross and Cathy, Betty Jackie, Geri, Joyce, Dave, Voyko, Stephen, Rodney, Bonnie and many others along the way. Russell was pre-deceased by close friends, Guy Ross, Tom Myra, Victor Stevens, Kris (Dick) McMullin, Anna Graves, Dawn Densmore and Alanna Densmore.

He started his early career as a Bell Hop and Room Service at the Holiday Inn Hotel at 99 Wyse Rd in Dartmouth, NS in 1979, managed by Atlific Inc where he first met Glen Squires. Russell was known to dress up as Orange Man and other costumes to promote the Hotel, back in the day.

It was 9 years later when Glen Squires formed Pacrim Hospitality Svc Inc and employed Russell at the Holiday Inn, St. John’s, NL in the Management Trainee position. Russell’s next placement was in Clarenville, NL as Food & Beverage and where he met his wife, Judy.

Russell spent extended times across Canada stretching from Langley, BC to Gander River, NL overseeing the pre-opening and purchasing at select hotels. There were a number of hotels that Russell worked as acting General Manager for Pacrim Hospitality Svc Inc, 25+ locations.

Russell was very knowledgeable in the industry and available to travel when needed.

Russell was honored with the name “Rocky” while he was managing Gander River Outfitters and Lodge Inc. Apparently Russell couldn’t go up the river without hitting rocks.

While in Clarenville, NL, Russell received the most awards for Food & Beverage across all of Canada.

He was such a pleasure to work with and eager to assist which led to his lifelong career with Pacrim Hospitality.

He was not just an employee, he was a friend.

Russell Fudge, a spirited Nova Scotian, was cherished for his adventurous nature and strong friendship.
Russell built a successful hospitality career, starting at the Holiday Inn in Dartmouth and earning accolades with Pacrim Hospitality for his dedication and expertise.
I had the privilege of working with Russell during the challenges of COVID, often reminiscing about those cold winters when it was just the two of us during the Christmas break. Known for his kindness and support, he was a true friend to many. Russell’s legacy of joy and connection will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

I worked with Russell for many years with Pacrim. Russell would walk into a room, you would look up and smile. Before the day was out, you would be sitting with Russell listening to his many funny stories. He was a kind man who was always helpful – no job was too big or too small. With such a big presence, I know he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. My sincere condolences to you all. Rest in peace my friend.
