Rita Wakeham July 11, 1926 - October 4, 2022

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s on Tuesday,  October 4, 2022 Rita Wakeham (nee Mulrooney) of Southern Harbour, formerly of Bar Haven, Placentia Bay aged 96 years. Predeceased by her husband Captain Michael J. and her brothers and sisters. Left with fond and loving memories her children Mary (Reg), John (Lois), Bernard (Audrey), Veronica (Bob), Rita (Derrick), Shirley (Paul), Jeannie (Roger); grandchildren Darrell (Isabelle), Shawn (Lorna), Jennifer (Ryan), Andrew (Christina),James ( Sarah), Mandy (Mark), Adam (Lindsay), Ashton, Michael, Danielle, Jeff, Jason, Lisa, Sheldon, Morgan, Sarah; great grandchildren Jessica, Kylie, Rebecca (Joe), Jackson, Alice, Logan, Ben, Hudson, Whitney, Myles, Benjamin, Amelia, Harrison, Sullivan, Charlie, Marshall, Hannah, Willow, Myles, Alice: sisters in law Judy, Sheila and large number of relatives and friends. Resting at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, Southern Harbour on Thursday, October 6, 2022 and Friday, October 7, 2022 from 2 PM to 9 PM. Funeral Service will be 11 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, Southern Harbour with interment to follow at Christ The King Roman Catholic Cemetery, Southern Harbour. In her memory, flowers accepted or donations gratefully accepted to charity of one’s choice. 

At request of the family masks to be worn at all times.  

Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital and the staff of Hillcrest Estates, Mount Pearl, for their care and all they have done.  

Funeral Service will be 11 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, Southern Harbour with interment to follow at Christ The King Roman Catholic Cemetery, Southern Harbour.

    So sorry to hear of our sweet, dear Rita’s passing. She was a beautiful lady with a heart of gold. We have fond memories of the times spent with her. She always had a smile and a funny story. Every visit with her was special. God has gained another precious angel. May she Rest In Peace. Audrey, Calvin , Andrea, Jeff, Suzanne and Peter.
