“Promoted To Glory”
Passed away peacefully in the arms of his family. Peter was the son of the late Philip and Prissie Marsh. Left with a lifetime of loving memories, his one true love and best “Pal,” Palma. His children and grandchildren; Thomas, Kristie, Simon and Lennon. David, Krystal, Gracie, Madelyn, Noah and Benjamin. Kayla and Lucas. Sisters; Donna (Chesley), Doris (Tom, dec.), Christine, Trudy (Terry) and mother-in-law, Mabel Mayo. Peter leaves behind a large circle of cherished family and friends who will miss him dearly. Peter was pre-deceased by his brother, Alwyn and father-in-law, Lester.
Peter was the baby of the family, born in Come-by-chance and raised on Vardy’s Avenue in Clarenville, where he would later raise his own family. Peter married his first girlfriend and only love, Palma Mayo on August 11th, 1990. They were truly each other’s best friends. Peter’s attentive love and care for Palma over the course of their relationship touched all who knew them. Peter and Palma raised their three children in his childhood home.
As a father, Peter always made time for his children, sharing special interests with each of them and ensuring they knew how much he loved them. He took time to teach them about God, music, sports, and coin-collecting. They enjoyed going on day trips as a family, watching hockey games, and golfing together. Peter would do anything for his family. He was their go-to tech expert, walking encyclopedia and resident handyman.
As his children started families of their own, Peter was so proud to become “Pop” and “Papa Peter”. He took the time to listen to his grandchildren, and just like the way he made his children feel special, he fostered meaningful relationships with each of his grandkids. They will always know just how much he loved them.
Peter had a fulfilling career in engineering and cherished the many colleagues and friends he made during his time with SGE-Acres and Meridian. His peaceful, warm, and welcoming presence and cheerful demeanour will be remembered and missed by his colleagues.
Peter was kind, gentle and humble, patient, and slow to anger. Prayer and faith were essential parts of his life. He was very involved in his church as a band member, prayer coordinator, youth leader, men’s ministries leader and was involved in many other programs over the years. When he couldn’t attend church, he made sure to attend virtually. Faith really was his anchor, holding steady until the end.
His final months were spent enjoying the simple things in life. Sitting with his family in his home, watching the clouds and listening to the birds. Enjoying a pour-over coffee and Palma’s baking. The many hours together, listening to music, singing, and sharing in conversations will be remembered forever.
We love you Teddy Bear, DaD, Pop, Papa Peter. We will meet you on the other side.
The family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care of Peter’s medical team. Dr. Stockwell, Dr. Rees, Karen, Barry Smith, Dr. Sheikh, and the incredible nursing staff at the GB Cross memorial hospital. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Visitations for Peter will be held on Saturday, September 3 at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2022 from Fewer’s Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Pleasant Street Cemetery.
PLEASE NOTE: The visitations and funeral service will be scent free. No Flowers by request due to severe allergies. Masks are also recommended for the visitations and service.

September 6, 2022 at 9:11 amTo Kayla and family: I knew Peter at Acres in St. John’s and remember him as a man of faith and his kindness as a coworker. He always spoke fondly of his family back in Clarenville. The commute couldn’t have been easy and I remember how happy he was when the joining of SGE and Acres gave him the opportunity to work close to home. It was a pleasure to meet again through Kayla at my daughter’s daycare – the apple did not fall far from the tree. My thoughts and prayers go with you all.
