Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, NL on Saturday, May 9, 2020, in the presence of her loving family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Myra Desrosiers (nee Walters) aged 79, of Clarenville was originally from Champney’s East, NL.
Predeceased by her parents Alexander and Margaret Walters, brothers Kenneth Walters, Herb Walters and Ray Walters, Sister Lillian Spurrell, Sister-in laws Kaye Walters, Joan Walters and Brother-in-laws Eldred Warren, Ronald Spurrell and Edmund Mouland.
Cherished by many, Myra was also known as Mom, Nan, Nan Myra and Aunt Myra. Left to mourn and forever loved by her husband of 57 years Roger, Daughters Gail Desrosiers (Craig Dawe), Lisa O’Gay (Robert), Granddaughter Erin Baker(Donald Milley), Erin’s Dad Kenneth Baker (Rowena), Brother Mark Walters (Mildred), Sisters Ruby Warren, Mary Mouland, and Sister in-law Joyce Walters. Myra is also leaving behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly (including all of the Ocean Pond and Meeting Pond friends), and Special friends Adrienne, Paul and Matthew Goodman, Ross and Edwina Green and Warren Langor.
Myra exemplified Newfoundland hospitality, no one left her house without a meal, a cup of tea or a small lunch. Everyone who entered her home was welcomed with open arms. Even her Sunday dinners included a few extra potatoes “in case someone drops in”.
She loved animals and always managed to find an animal to dote on whether it was a rabbit at the cabin, a stray cat hanging out by the door or her own cats, grand-cats and great-grand cats. Her heart was big and warm.
Cremation has taken place and because of the Covid19 restrictions, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clarenville SPCA (https://clarenvilleareaspca.ca/ ) or Feral Felines Rescue & Rehabilitation (http://feralfelinesrescue.com/ )in her memory.

May 10, 2020 at 12:09 pmIt is with great sadness and heartbreak I read today of Myra’s passing. Sincere condolences to you Roger and all the family. I met Roger and Myra one winters day, many years ago at her cabin down Ocean Pond. Even thought she didn’t expect two strangers popping in, we were happily welcomed and we got to know each other that day over a few bowls of her wonderful peas soup.We arrived strangers and left as friends. She will be sadly missed by every one who knew her.
Rest well my friend. One of my greatest pleasures in life was meeting you.
