Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Sunday, December 7, 2025, Joan Holloway of Lethbridge, age 90 years.
Predeceased by her 1st husband Victor Hancock, 2nd husband James Holloway and sister Lillian Nichols. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Philip (Elizabeth), Gordon (Marjorie), Victoria, Dennis (Florentine) and Angela (Mike); 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn a large circle of extended family and friends.
If you knew Joan (Mom), you knew her smile was always bright, and her welcome was always warm. She loved company of others and was always sure to tell you how much she loved to see you. If you visited Mom in her home, you knew you were sure to never leave her table hungry. She was famous for having her guests “stay for a lunch” and of course, a cup of tea.
She was a true maker of Home. A place where all were welcome… family, friends, new friends, and animals a like. She raised her family (though not all times easy) and did so with no complaints, just love, and hard work. Mom’s heart was always full with faith, resilience, and kindness. She was always dedicated in her faith, even during trying times of sickness throughout her years. Mom always thought of everyone, from her pairs of socks or mitts at Christmas, to donations to children and animals.
Visitation will take place at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, December 10 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel, Clarenville with interment to follow at Milton-George’s Brook Cemetery.
The Family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to those who have provided care to Mom over the last number of years – including her home care workers, and special thanks to her doctors and nurses in Emergent Care and the Med/Surg Ward at G.B Cross.
Donations to the Clarenville SPCA in Joan’s memory gratefully appreciated.
