In Loving Memory of Gordon Penney (The Milkman). With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon Penney (The Milkman) on March 29th, 2025, surrounded by his family at G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville. Born on October 24, 1938, Gordon was a beloved member of his community. For 35 years, Gordon worked as a door-to-door milkman, becoming a familiar face to many. His ingenuity and craftsmanship were apparent in everything he did, as he had a passion for fixing and building things. His resourcefulness and problem-solving skills endeared him to all who knew him, especially his family. Gordon was predeceased by his beloved wife, Bonnie Penney (nee Ivany) his mother-in-law, Flora Ivany (nee Stanley), and his parents, Nathaniel Penney and Ida May Penney (nee Bowen). Gordon is survived by his daughter, Tracy Penney, son, Trevor Penney, the best daughter-in-law he could ever ask for, Stephanie Penney (nee Donovan), grandson, Nicholas Pomroy, brother-in-law Andy Ivany (Del Ivany), nephews, Corey Ivany (Vanessa Ivany), Dana Ivany (Sara Ivany), nephew Cohen Ivany, niece Ava Ivany and his loyal puppy, Bimbo Penney.
A lover of music, dancing, and Jeopardy, Gordon’s goofy humor brought joy to everyone around him. He had an uncanny ability to connect with people, and wherever he went, there wasn’t a soul who didn’t recognize “The Milkman.”
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at G.B Cross Memorial hospital for their wonderful care and support. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Clarenville from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. A funeral service will take place on April 2nd, 2025, at 11:00am at the George’s Brook-Milton Pentecostal Church.
Gordon’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and dedication to his family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

March 30, 2025 at 3:58 pmTracey, Trevor and families, I am saddened to learn of your dad’s passing. My condolences to you all. Last time I saw him was in 1968, when he was delivering milk to Come By Chance hospital where I then worked. A gentle soul like his mom (aunt May), and a witty sense of humor, is how I will forever remember Gordon. RIP cousin. ‘Dee’ (Doris) Bowen.

March 30, 2025 at 8:00 pmTo Tracy, Trevor and all the family.
I am indeed saddened to learn it your Dad’s passing. He was my first cousin. I lived with Aunt May and Uncle Nath when I went to High School in Musgravetown from 1961 to 1963. Gordon was like a brother more than a cousin. This picture of him certainly shows a very strong likeness to my Dad. William and his brother our uncle John. The story reminds me of them as well.
Wish I could be there to attend the funeral. Please know that my heart is with you all.
Rest in Peace, Cousin.

April 1, 2025 at 12:18 amSad to hear about the passing of someone who was a constant source of happiness when I was really young. Looked forward to every Wednesday and Saturday morning for when The Milkman would come and Mom would get me something special from the truck.
Just last weekend in Kemtville was with my son (who is now 21) at Canadian Tire and saw that the Styrofoam planes that you put together now cost $1.50. Said to my son that back when I was small The Milkman use to bring them and they cost a quarter.
That was a time well over 40 years ago. It says something amazing about a special man who can put a smile on someone’s face after so long a time. While he may now be gone, his ability to put a smile on the face of those who will remember him will endure.
The Milkman is part of some of the earliest happy memories I have. What I remember was a kind man who paid attention to, me while he talked with Mom and always had neat stuff with him well beyond milk.
His visits were a big help to Mom, as Dad tended to be away working and she did not drive. While we could always get rides to the store if we needed one, it was nice to have some basic necessities taken care of.
Condolences to the family, hope you can take some comfort in the fond remembrances of others whose lives were positively touched by Mr. Penny.
