PENNEY, Everett Richard

September 24, 1937 – December 28, 2020

Everett Penney aged 83 years, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, after a short battle with cancer.

Predeceased by his parents Richard (Dick) and Sarah (Sadie). Left with fond and loving memories his wife Ethel of 59 years; son Barry; favourite daughter-in-law Lisa; 2 grandchildren of whom he was so very proud, Sarah and Aidan; and a very large circle of close friends and family.

Special thank you to Ann Russell for always being there and for all you do.

Everett was a very active member of his community, including many hours volunteering with the Legion, Clarenville Branch 27, Telephone Pioneers, and many other organizations.

Cremation has been arranged and a funeral service will take place at a later date.

In Everett’s memory, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Epilepsy-Newfoundland-and-Labrador, or a charity of your choice.

So sad to here of EVERETTS passing. This man will be greatly missed in this community. He was involved in so many charitable projects from the Legion to the G.B Cross and many hours with the bowling community certainty a Great Man.

To Ethel, Barry, Lisa and family, we will never forget the good times we had with you and Everett in Montreal, Glace Bay NS and of course Newfoundland. The drive from Montreal to Glace Bay for your wedding to the great family dinners with Everett’s home made wine are memories we will always cherish.

A good man gone from our midst but not our memories. Everett could often be seen around town as he was a tireless worker for various charities. Whenever we met, we always chatted and I left with a smile on my face and a good feeling in my heart. Our deepest condolences go out to Ethel, Lisa and Barry, and his grandchildren. Ethel, so very sad to hear of Everett’s passing. I have so many wonderful memories of curling with Everett. He always stopped for a chat whenever we saw each other in the community. He was a tireless volunteer and gave so much to his town. To you, your son and his family, and all Everett’s family, I want to extend my deepest sympathy. Hold tight to all your wonderful memories. Deepest sympathy to Ethel and family. I remember Every fondly when we were neighbours during my last few years in Clarenville. He was a gentle giving man with a great sense of humour.
