It is with gratitude the family of Eva Grace Dampier (nee Greening) celebrate the gift of our mother and grandmother. As a big sister, she was a carer early in life. She took this gift to the General School of Nursing, graduating in 1961. She continued to nurse in Labrador West for many years, then at the Janeway for 20 years before retiring in 2000. Throughout her life, she less formally shared her nursing expertise within her family and community.
Predeceased by her husband Don Dampier and daughter Paula, brother-in-law Cecil Guy, she leaves grateful children Andy (Gail), Eddie (Debbie), Sandy (Cy), special daughter Michelle Dyke. As well, she leaves her loving siblings Roberta Guy, Ashwell Greening (Ann), Alvin Greening (Patsy), Bruce Greening (Jean). She leaves adoring grandchildren Sarah (Zack), Erin (Chris), Ben (Haley), Samantha (Evan), Melissa (Shawn), Brandon, Colin (Celynn), William, Brad (Kim), Corinne.
Eva’s legacy is love, it is what she taught through voice and action. She shared that love widely with a heart that could not be contained. Her family grew well beyond shared DNA, and we are so much richer for it. She welcomed Don’s children Lynn, Rob (Sherri) and Bill as her own. In recent years, Chester Martin and Eva drew strength and comfort from one another as companions. This brought more children to love…Warrick (Pam), Paula (Lindsey) and Craig (Dana). Eva’s grandchildren grew to 23 and her great-grandchildren grew to 24.
We also want to thank loving caregiver Tangee Holloway, whose love and attention brought peace of mind to Eva’s family.
Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations in Eva’s memory can be made to the Vera Perlin Society.
Visitation will take place at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Lethbridge 2PM-9PM on Sunday, 17 March. A funeral service will take place on Monday, 18 March, 11AM at Island View Citadel in Musgravetown. Interment will take place at a later date.

March 15, 2024 at 10:09 pmMy condolences to the family. I remember her in her nursing uniform in Lab City hospital. First time I met her there, I asked her where she was from because I recognized the distinctive tone of her voice. It was so funny when she replied Musgravetown, I said, “ wow, me too. “
We had such a laugh when I told her who I was. She knew my older siblings but knew who I was too.
Eva was a beautiful lady ♥️

March 17, 2024 at 1:31 pmI have fond memories of working with Eva at the Janeway. She was always focussed on her patients and a treasured member of our team. She was full of energy and fun I remember when she retired we tied her to a wheelchair and put her in the elevator and pushed the button for every floor. We hated to see her leave. My condolences to all who loved her. Rest in peace, Eva.

March 17, 2024 at 10:17 pmI have such great memories of Eva! We worked together on 1B at the old Janeway for 3 years . She was a single Mom raising her 3 kids and I was a new nurse about to be married . When the time came close she insisted on having a work bridal shower for me . She was a wonderful Nurse who always had a smile on her face for her patients!. She loved her children and spoke of them often . Her house was full but yet she always had room for one more ! We didn’t see each other often but kept in touch with our yearly Christmas cards . She was so proud of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments!!
She was a very kind and compassionate person . I am sure that you all will have comfort knowing that she is up there somewhere with Paula , smiling down on you all! Unfortunately I was at my cabin and didn’t see the obit in time to go to the wake and I have an appt in St. john’s on monday ,but please know that I will be thinking of you all!
Your Mom was a lovely person inside and out , and she will be missed!
