It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eli Raymond Baker on July 23th, 2023 in his 76th year at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, NL.
Predeceased by his beloved parents (Edith and Jacob), sister Effie and brothers James and Clarence.
Left to mourn wife Velma (nee Temple); daughters Sharon (Randy) and Marlene (Terence); son David (Kara); cherished grandchildren David, Joshua, Lauren, and Grace; siblings John (Rosalie), Evelyn, Eric (Evelyn), Hayward (Rowena), Winnifred (Allan), Sidney (Rebecca), Ephraim (Trudy), Cecil (Lily), Hilda (Allan), Wallace (Venus), Alice (Barry); sister-in-law Mondella. Also leaving behind with precious memories are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a large circle of friends.
Born and raised in Goobies, NL, he lived most of his life there. In recent years, he and Velma lived in St. John’s to spend time with their children and grandchildren. A man of faith, Eli loved to make people laugh and always had a story. After a long career with the provincial government, Eli enjoyed retirement with Velma, spending their summers camping.
The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care.
Visitation on Tuesday, July 25th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm and funeral service at 2:00 pm on Wednesday July 26th at Bethel Pentecostal Church in Goobies, NL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society or a charity of your choice.

Lost touch as we mo Ed around but always got a chance at times to connect in Gander when you were camping there. No loss is easy but take heart that one day reunion time will come.
