Passed peacefully away at his home in Musgravetown on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 Douglas Penney of Canning’s Cove aged 80 years. Predeceased by his mom, Doris Penney; grandparents, Jim and Hazel Penney; sister, Peggy Clouter-Nurse; brother-in-law, Dennis MacNeil. Left with fond and loving memories, sisters, Dianne Penney-MacNeil, Elizabeth, Elaine; brother-in-law, Don Nurse; niece, Tammy Simmonds (Jim); great niece, Victoria and great nephew, Brady; special friend and partner, Florence; her daughter, Leslie (Mike), grandson, Ethan; his special friend, Murley Pitts; and a large circle of family and friends. Resting at the Anglican Church in Canning’s Cove, Sunday, December 28, 2025 from 2-9 P.M. Funeral service to take place from the Anglican Church, Canning’s Cove Monday, December 29, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Canning’s Cove. The family would like to thank his homecare workers, Mardene Prince, Florence Avery, and Sarah Sullivan for the wonderful care they took of him. Douglas loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes. He also, enjoyed telling jokes and could make anyone laugh.
