Douglas Oldford June 29, 1948 - April 25, 2024

Oldford, Eli Douglas “Doug” – Clarenville, NL. It is with great sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of a much loved husband, father, and grandfather. Surrounded by his family, God took Doug home on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Dr. Albert O’Mahony Center in Clarenville, in his 75th year. Born in Bonavista, NL, he was one of 14 children of the late Maynard and Myrtle (Way) Oldford. Doug was a dedicated husband and father who spent tireless hours volunteering in his children’s activities and his church. Dad went to Memorial University of Newfoundland and started his career as a store clerk, he went on to be a bank manager, to a MHA for Trinity North and Deputy Speaker. Doug is predeceased by his, parents, Maynard and Myrtle (Way) Oldford; parents-in-law, Clyde and Theresa Holloway; brothers, Bill Oldford, Albert Oldford; sister, Elsie (Allan) Ryder; sister-in-law, Louise Oldford. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Judy of 54 years. Children, Duane, Joey (Heather), Lee (Peter) Churchill; grandchildren, Arthur and Edward Churchill; sisters, Dorothy (Robert) Hynes, Leona (Carl) Dyke, Theresa (Byron) Adams, Beverly (Eric) Norris; sisters-in-law, Judy and Gertie; brothers, Robert, Burt (Lynn), Winsor (Jean), Tom (Linda), Marvin (Mona), Gary (Myrtle); and a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Clarenville on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Memorial service to take place from Fewer’s Memorial Chapel in Clarenville on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 2:00 P.M.  As per his wishes cremation has taken place, interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital Clarenville or to a charity of one’s choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Heights Manor in Bonavista and the O’Mahony Manor in Clarenville for their care and professionalism.

    Doug worked with me when i was branch manager in Springdale.Doug and Judy spent many evenings with us especially after a dance at the Lions club.Condolences to Judy and family.It was a real pleasure to work with him and he will be surely missed by those who knew him.God Bless and RIP Doug.
