Darryl Marsden January 17, 1956 - December 20, 2020

MARSDEN, Darryl – Passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, December 20, 2020, Darryl Marsden of Old Bonaventure, formerly of Francois, aged 64 years.  Predeceased by his parents Samuel and Lydia; infant brother Johnny; sister Margaret; granddaughter Jessa; sisters-in-law Marie Cooper and Suzanne Bannister; brothers-in-law Lindy Smith and Walter Stone.  Left with fond and loving memories his wife Cecily of 43 years; sons Andy (Cecilia), Shawn (Stephanie) and Steve; grandsons Samuel and William; sisters Nancy (Eddie Durnford), Greta Marsden, Susanna (Aaron Giles) and Jocelyn (Ken Wilson); brothers Maxwell (Rowena), James (Dora) and Stan (Natasha); brother-in-law Cecil Bannister (Sharon Toope); sisters-in-law Sheila (Pleeman), Louise Smith and Delphine Stone; and a large circle of family and friends.  Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Covid-19 restrictions in place.  Funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 24 at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel by Invitation Only.  Cremation will follow the service.  In his memory donations may be made to the Janeway Hospital or Ronald MacDonald House, St. John’s.

    Our condolences to the family. We didn’t know Darryl well, but we both worked with the Coast Guard and Ray would drop by for a visit at Fort Point when we were in the area. He was a lovely man. Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.

    From one Union member to another I am sad to hear this news……Although I never met Darryl, I always knew he worked at Fort Point as I would have to review the Membership List each month, he knew we were there to address any issues he had. Condolences to his Family, Friends and Co-workers with the Canadian Coast Guard and fellow Lighthouse Keepers. May his soul rest in heavenly peace.
