It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Calvin Chippett on April 25, 2025, at G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital. Calvin battled a lengthy illness for 14 years and succumbed to his battle surrounded by his close loved ones at the age of 61.
Calvin was originally from Leading Tickles. He left home at a young age to find his own way, and he finally resided in Brooks, Alberta for 25 years of his life. There, he worked in the construction industry, making lifelong friends, and “living the dream” doing what he dearly loved. Eventually, his love of Newfoundland called him back home, where he resided with his loving wife, Natasha. Shortly after the move home, Calvin got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and so began the biggest battle of Calvin’s life, Natasha being his biggest supporter throughout.
Calvin was predeceased by his grandparents, Fred and Rose Chippett, Arthur and Leah Hemmeon; brother Wilburn Chippett; parents-in-law, William and Greta Pye.
Left with fond and loving memories was his loving partner, Natasha Pye, of 24 years. His daughter, Katharine (Malcom) Cheesman; son, Tristan Chippett; grandchildren, Annabella Dodge, Emma Dodge, and Rhett Cheesman; parents, Ben and Jean Chippett; sister, Kim (Leonard) Newman; special niece, Carla (John) Rowsell; nephew, Ransey (Brooke) Rowsell ; and a large circle of family and friends.
As per his wishes, cremation took place and a private family service will follow at a later

April 28, 2025 at 4:27 pmMy condolences to Calvin’s entire family. Even though I have not seen Calvin since we worked together in the kitchen on a CPR work gang over 40 years ago, I remember him as always being easy to work alongside. He bought his first car in Alberta, and I drove it back to Leading Tickles with him. Calvin was soft spoken and sincere person, I wish the family is comforted by the memories they have, and the knowledge his pain is now gone. Rest in Peace. PJ Gardiner
