Violet Blanche Whiffen (nee Best) May 3, 1933 – June 9, 2020

With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend ( Violet Whiffen). Southern Harbour, NL

Mom passed peacefully away at GB Cross Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 after a short illness at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her Husband Augustine, daughter Evelyn, Grandson Harold John, parents John and Bridget Best sisters, Esther, Rhoda, Mary Ellen, Catherine, and Brothers, Malcolm, and Patrick.

Left with fond and loving memory her children: Dorothy (Jerry), Gus (Shirley) Marcella (Reg), Bernard (Jean), Loretta (Bryon), Marie (Bern) Sally (Ben), Victor(Cynthia), Harold (Donna), Grandchildren Jackie, Vanessa , Shane,Kim , Doug, Gordon, Janelle, Aaron, Melissa, Brandon and a very special grandson Noah and 13 great grandchildren, and a special Nephew Herb ( Jacqueline).Sisters Cecilia, Josephine, Martha, Brothers William and Alexander and many nieces and nephews.

Violet had a heart bigger than most. She was welcoming, loving soul with a quick wit, a keen sense of humour and a love for life. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by many.

A special thank you to the staff of the G B Cross Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care, Staff of the Loins Manor Placentia who lovingly cared for her during her brief stay, and the management and staff of the Hilltop Manor who treated her with tender loving care for the past couple of years and the many friends that she made there especially her special friend Annie Warren and a large circle of relatives and friends to many to mention.

    My sincere condolences to you all on the death of your loved one, Violet. She was a dear friend of mother’s ( Marion Finlay) and I only ever heard good things said about her. May she now rest in peace.
